In a recent statement, Zoho Corporation’s CEO, Sridhar Vembu, emphasized that user data for Arattai and other Zoho applications is exclusively hosted within India. He clarified that the data is stored in Zoho’s own data centers located in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, with plans to expand to Odisha. Vembu further stated that Arattai does not utilize cloud services from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud for data storage, although some of these services are used for regional traffic optimization.
This declaration comes amid discussions comparing Arattai, an Indian-made messaging app, with global platforms like WhatsApp. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Piyush Goyal have recently endorsed Arattai on social media, contributing to its surge in popularity. The app has topped the App Store’s download charts and is rapidly climbing the Google Play Store rankings.
Vembu’s comments aim to address misinformation and highlight Zoho’s commitment to data sovereignty and user privacy within India.
